About 2300 people in the UK will work for many social media companies, including Facebook until the end of next year.
The new Facebook office in the UK will be the biggest headquarters outside of the United States after ten years. “Britain is not a good place to start a new business, but the UK is an ideal country for growing entrepreneurial population and advanced engineering technology companies,” said Nicola Mendelsohn, vice president of regional Europe.
For the office, a seven-storey building in Ratbhbone Place, near Oxford Circus in London, was selected. The building has been redesigned for Facebook by Frank Gehry, one of the best architects of the Guggenheim Museum in Bilboa. The company will include engineers and developers as well as marketing and sales departments.
Experts from many different departments, including engineering, products and partnerships, will take part in the company as part of Facebook.
